A new study from Australia has confirmed a long line of studies which demonstrate that SSRI's are linked to birth defects. The study included data from over 123k pregnancies found in an Autralian Pharmaceutical database. The study results showed a 60% increase in the rate of babies with Major Heart malformations if their mothers used an SSRI during pregnancy. This study confirms several studies which have come out since 2005, showing that use of SSRi's in pregnancy, increases the risks of birth defects. The study also showed an 3x increased risk of a kind of Kidney malformation with the SSRI Celexa (citalopram). For more on this topic click here
