Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge Chew Bars. Sounds good, right? Well, it turns out the name might be accurate that intended. The Food and Drug Administration recently announced that Candy Dynamics, the company distributing the candy bars, was recalling all the bars made beginning in 2007 through those made this month.

According to the FDA, the California Department of Public Health found that a batch of the cherry flavored candy bars contained an elevated level of lead. Under FDA guidelines, products such as these may contain up to 0.1 parts-per-million, but the tested candy bars showed as much as 0.24 parts-per-million, high enough to potentially cause a personal injury.

The recall reportedly covers all varieties of the candy bar, which come in flavor varieties including cherry, sour apple and blue raspberry. No other products included in the "Toxic Waste" brand are included in the recall. The recalled products are said to be imported from Pakistan and distributed by Candy Dynamics, an Indiana-based company.

The elevated levels of lead can be especially dangerous to children and pregnant women. Lead poisoning can affect the nervous system and is toxic to many bodily organs including the kidneys and heart. Common symptoms of lead poisoning can include headaches, irritability, abdominal pain, and anemia. However, serious cases can result in seizures or even death.

Currently, no injuries have been connected with the candy bars, but the distributor is asking people to contact them with instructions on disposing of the candy. If you have experienced an illness related to this candy, or have been injured by some other type of defective product, you may want to consult with a legal professional to find out if you might have a potential claim for financial compensation.
